Maybe it's because we had our high school reunion this month. I won't tell you what year! It certainly makes a person feel old. When I dusted off the THS year book and began reminiscing I came across this picture of me working in "the crafts room". I spent many hours (sometimes even when I was supposed to be elsewhere) learning the craft of metalsmithing. I can recall at the end of one period making a final downward swipe with my saw just before the bell rang. Unfortunately my finger got in the way and I bled all the way to the nurse's office and was butterfly stitched before going to my next class. This is how we learn... Fortunately I never cut my finger again because I learned to never have your fingers in front of the damn jewelers saw.
I just found a quote on Facebook which read "Some days I wish I could go back in life. Not to change anything, but to feel a few things twice." A nice sentiment but perhaps I would change a few things. And sometimes I have to wonder what if...Then I try and I remind myself that everything happens for a reason, just to keep myself somewhat sane.
I'm glad I kept some of the pieces I made way back then. It's interesting to look back and realize how far I've come.
